Gemeinsam mit dem Launch des SQL Server 2012 wurde auch ein Update für die SQL Server Parallel Datawarehouse Appliance (kurz: PDW) angekündigt. Das Appliance Update (kurz: AU) bringt neben Soft- und Firmware immer auch Hardwareupdates – einer der Vorteile von Appliances! Verbessert werden diesmal die Performance (und zwar massiv!), die Verwaltung, die Programmiermöglichkeiten und nicht zuletzt die Unterstützung von 3rd Party Werkzeugen (z.B. für ETL, BI).
